Sunshine, Smiles, and Service: Summer Volunteer Camp Begins!
Our popular Summer Volunteer Camp is back for its seventh year, and we’re having a blast engaging youth in meaningful volunteer experiences that help make our community a better place.

Campers show-off the books they collected for Butterfly Books
In our first session, the kids learned about the 4Ts of volunteering: Time, Talent, Teamwork, and Treasures. They wrote in their Reflection Journals, met incredible nonprofit leaders who shared insights about our community’s needs, and made new friends!
Here are some of the fun projects they worked on:
- Art Kits for Bethany House: The kids put together lovely art kits filled with inspirational cards, sketchbooks, colored pencils, a candle-making kit, and more!
- Illustrated Story Stones: These special stones were created for All Ages Read Together to use in their literacy programs.
- Buckets of Summer Fun: These were assembled for Affordable Homes and Communities, packed with sensory jars, bubbles, chalk, beach balls, water squirters, and other awesome outdoor toys—perfect for their campers. Hygiene Kits for Artemis House: The kids helped put together kits to support the parents they serve.
- Made Bookmarks for Butterfly Books: These adorable bookmarks will accompany the books for underserved kids!

We also introduced a new program, Walk In My Shoes, where kids learned about empathy and inclusion. Through a fun activity focused on food allergies, they learned how to be supportive of those with allergies.

If you would like your kids to attend, don’t wait! We have limited spots available from July 21 to 25 in Fairfax and from July 28 to August 1 in Oakton.
