In December 2025, we celebrated our fifth year of Baskets for Babies, bringing families together to assemble baskets of essentials for low‑income expectant parents.

What began as plain cardboard boxes quickly transformed into festive, gift‑ready baskets filled with clothes, blankets, linens, toiletries, first‑aid kits, toys, books, rattles, and other newborn necessities. Volunteers also added handmade touches—cards, nursery decorations, and customized bibs and onesies with adorable iron‑on designs.

A holiday bake sale, a visit from Congressman James Walkinshaw, several Girl Scout troops, and an enthusiastic group of volunteers helped make this year’s event especially memorable.
Baskets for Babies started in a church parking lot during the pandemic, and since then, families have created 400 baskets for Fairfax County’s Department of Family Services to distribute. We’ll continue collecting baby items throughout the year with a goal of donating at least 100 baskets in 2026.
Thank you to our sponsors and donors, Fluent, LDC, and The UPS Store in Vienna; to the women from Peace Lutheran Church who continually knit baby blankets and hats for the baskets; and to the agents at New York Life who donated and assembled 20 baskets during a holiday team-building event.
